Low refrigerant means a leak
Air conditioning does not consume refrigerant. If the system is low, it escaped somewhere — an o-ring, a condenser damaged by road debris on Route 78, or a tired compressor seal.
Adding refrigerant without finding the leak is the automotive equivalent of filling a bucket with a hole in it.
It might not be refrigerant at all
A blend door actuator stuck on heat, a failed cooling fan, a clogged cabin filter or an electrical fault in the compressor clutch circuit all produce warm vents with a perfectly full system.
Cold at speed, warm at idle
That specific pattern usually points to airflow across the condenser — a fan that is not running when the car is stopped in traffic on Stefko Boulevard.
